Video Production – Case Study

GlaxoSmithKline

Project: Educational CD-ROMs

Client: GlaxoSmithKline

Description: CD-ROMs for the educational development of Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialists (PDNS)

Teaching Pack CD-ROM – Management and programming

This CD-ROM needed to hold several Parkinson's related presentations for use by PDNSs within their day to day role. It needed to be easily navigable and usable by nurses without PowerPoint. We produced a tool that could be navigated via a user friendly portal, allowing the embedded presentations to be run from within the CD-ROM, in HTML or by downloading the presentations into PowerPoint if the user had access to this software.

Talking Heads CD-ROM – Filming, editing, encoding, management and programming

BOX BEAR spent 2-3 months travelling throughout the UK capturing interviews with PD consultants, nurses and patients gathering material to be included within this talking heads CD-ROM. All those interviewed had experience using a specific Parkinson's therapy and they were questioned in order for us to understand and record their experiences, views and thoughts on the use of it. The footage was edited closely with members of the neurology team at GSK which resulted in a plethora of clips that could be used in an educational way within the CD-ROM.

Once the clips had been edited and approved, we began programming the interface into which the footage was to be added. Again, this needed to be easily navigable and reflect the design principles already in place for the product promotional materials. The neurology team have been extremely happy with the tool produced, so much so that further similar projects are in development.
